The head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Shabunin, is being prepared for suspicion of ‘failure to report for military service
19.06.2024 16:22Workers from the defense industry, who are entitled to exemptions from mobilization, are being sent to the army when they visit territorial recruitment centers to update their records.
This issue was highlighted by Roman Kostenko, the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, in comments to Ukrainian media.
Kostenko stated that the committee is currently working on a draft law to ensure that the legal deferments for this category of conscripts are respected.
“The problem is that defense industry workers go to update their data at the territorial recruitment centers and are immediately mobilized. But they have a legal right to exemption. We are now preparing a draft law to exclude the mobilization of such people when updating their data,” said Kostenko.
Recently, it was reported that territorial recruitment centers are mobilizing defense industry workers during data verification processes, even though these employees have exemptions. In response, over 40 enterprises, including manufacturers of missile weapons, artillery and shells, mortars and their ammunition, armored vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and electronic warfare systems, have issued an appeal regarding this matter.
