26.06.2024 - 12:41Since the beginning of the year, approximately 100,000-130,000 Ukrainians have returned to their homes in occupied territories or conflict zones to avoid paying rent. This includes primarily women and pensioners, and sometimes entire families.
This information was shared by Member of Parliament Maksym Tkachenko in an interview with Times of Ukraine.
“The main reason is the lack of free housing provided by the state that meets acceptable living conditions,” Tkachenko stated.
According to him, displaced persons often rent accommodation for 10,000-15,000 hryvnias from Ukrainians who have gone abroad and are receiving refugee compensation there.
Earlier, the MP reported that tens of thousands of Ukrainian displaced persons had returned to uncontrolled territories.
It should be noted that as of March 1, most displaced persons lost the monthly state allowance of 2,000 hryvnias (less than 50 euros).
Additionally, we previously reported that nearly 300,000 forced displaced persons in Ukraine have stopped receiving pension benefits.
