130,000 displaced people returned to occupied or combat zones due to expensive housing rentals
26.06.2024 - 12:23DTEK’s Executive Director, Dmytro Sakharuk, stated that for every missile in Ukraine’s air defense system, there are 5-6 Russian missiles, making it difficult for Ukraine to reliably protect its energy system.
His comments were reported by the Kyiv Post.
“It seems that for every missile we currently have, there are five to six Russian missiles. If 10 missiles are coming at you, you need at least 12 missiles in the air defense system. Therefore, even if we start to recover and repair, there is no way to protect the restored units right now,” Sakharuk said.
Earlier, CNN reported that Russia’s new bombardment tactics are putting unprecedented pressure on Ukraine’s already crippled energy system. This year, Moscow has begun targeting power generation facilities: thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants and even gas storage facilities.
BBC News predicted that power and heating outages in Ukraine could last up to 20 hours a day during the coming winter. Similarly, “Ukrhydroenergo” also anticipated prolonged power outages in the winter, potentially lasting up to two-thirds of the day.
