‘This is a disaster for Ukraine’, – European politicians reacted to Trump’s choice of his vice president – Politico
17.07.2024 09:04Former U.S. President Donald Trump plans to force Ukraine into negotiations with Russia if he is re-elected.
“We cannot expect any peace initiative from Trump before the elections. However, I can confidently state that shortly after his election victory, he will not wait for his inauguration but will be ready to act immediately as a peacemaker,” the publication quotes the Hungarian prime minister as saying.
Orbán emphasized that Trump has “well-developed plans” to initiate the peace process. He also added that in this situation, European Union countries need to restore direct diplomatic contacts with Russia to facilitate a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that China wants to convince the European Union to accept its peace plan for Ukraine, which it developed jointly with Brazil in May this year. According to the South China Morning Post, the Chinese side has noticeably changed its tone in discussions about the conflict in Ukraine during negotiations with European colleagues and feels confident about this issue.
