‘Unacceptable to Ukraine’s top leadership’: The 80th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stood up for their commander who refused to carry out an obviously impossible task

A conflict is growing within the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) between the General Staff and commanders. Soldiers of the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the AFU have appealed to Volodymyr Zelensky, asking him not to remove their commander, Emil Ishkulov, who reports the real situation from the front.

The soldiers published a corresponding video.

“Why are commanders who enjoy indisputable authority not favored by the higher leadership of the AFU? Because they are not afraid to voice problematic issues and report the real state of affairs. And they do not recklessly sacrifice people in hopes of receiving medals,” the soldiers said in the video.

According to the Telegram channel Deep State, the likely reason for Ishkulov’s removal from his position is his refusal to carry out a task that was clearly impossible.

The 80th Air Assault Brigade previously fought near Bakhmut, but recently there have been reports that the unit has been redeployed to the area near Krasnohorivka.

“We were the first to fight in Donbas 10 years ago, defended the Donetsk and Luhansk airports. We stopped the Russians in Voznesensk, took part in the counteroffensive in Kharkiv region, held Bakhmut and liberated Klishchiivka. We do not understand why commanders who enjoy unconditional authority among the personnel, who have a victorious combat path and extensive experience in large-scale warfare, are not favored by the higher leadership of the AFU.”
