06.08.2024 - 16:07Western partners periodically raise the issue of the need to lower the conscription age in Ukraine.
This was stated by Member of Parliament Fedir Venislavskyi.
“They (in the West) believe that the age of 18-25 is the most optimal and effective for citizens to actively fight in terms of physical and psychological qualities,” explained the MP.
However, according to him, the leadership of Ukraine does not plan to lower the conscription age. Recently, the committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported a bill that completely prohibits the conscription of citizens younger than 25 years old.
Currently, in certain cases, young people can be mobilized upon reaching adulthood. Thus, men aged 18-25 can be mobilized if:
- The man has completed mandatory service in peacetime;
- The person has graduated from a higher military educational institution or a military department and received a specific military specialty;
- The man has been declared unfit for mandatory service in peacetime but fit for service in wartime by the military medical commission.
