16.08.2024 - 12:22The Kursk offensive has worsened the already difficult situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in Donbas.
This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, following conversations with soldiers.
According to the publication, Ukraine “redeployed forces from the eastern front,” leading to a significant dispersal of troops.
“We don’t have enough people to properly do our jobs,” said the commander of the 21st Battalion of the UAF, who was near Krasnohorivka last week.
He noted that only about 20% of the battalion’s losses are being replenished by mobilized personnel. Additionally, the soldiers are very fatigued.
Ukrainian commanders in other directions are also complaining about a shortage of artillery ammunition and personnel.
“If we are supposed to have five or six people at a position, we have two or three,” said a UAF major who has been stationed near Chasiv Yar for the past two months.
He mentioned that due to the lack of personnel, rear staff are being forced into the trenches.
Earlier, soldiers from the Pokrovske direction also told Politico that the situation for them worsened after the start of the Kursk operation.
