Killed mother in front of her children: New details emerge about the shooting in the Ternopil region

New details have emerged about yesterday’s shooting in the Ternopil region, where a soldier left his post, came to the center of the village, and opened fire on people, killing two women.

As reported by local media, the tragedy occurred on the Day of the Village in Dobrovody. In honor of the celebration, children’s attractions were set up near the local club. It was there that the shooting took place.

“We heard shots. One person (who was later wounded) said someone might be joking and went to check. Then someone pushed her (a relative) to the ground, saying ‘run, someone is shooting.’ Panic ensued, and people grabbed their children and fled. She ran towards the cemetery. On the way, she met a woman (later killed) who was returning home with her daughter. The soldier was also heading towards the cemetery and shooting at everyone. Someone mentioned that he had two magazines of ammunition,” a village resident recounted.

The assailant was stopped by two men after he had walked 2 kilometers away from the crime scene. Law enforcement officers then arrived.

“A woman died, a mother of two children, a widow. She was returning home with her children—Maria Mal’shevska was the first victim. She was shot in front of her children. The second woman was Olga Zremyak,” the resident said.

Another man had both of his hands shot through, and a woman was shot in the abdomen.

As a reminder, a source in law enforcement reported that Sergeant Serhiy Mykhailovych Korobets, who was on duty, left his checkpoint and went to the center of Dobrovody village, where he, for unknown reasons, opened fire with an AK-47.
