The Prosecutor General’s Office announced suspicion against the ‘Sluga Naroda’ MP Dmytruk. Media reports indicate that the MP, who defended the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has fled Ukraine

Ukrainian Member of Parliament Artem Dmytruk has been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and a soldier.

This was announced by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The Prosecutor General informed the sitting Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the charges, which include assault by a group of persons on a law enforcement officer and a soldier, an attempt to seize a firearm, inflicting moderate bodily harm on the victim and hooliganism.

According to the investigation, the suspect, while in Odesa, acting with a group of individuals, assaulted a law enforcement officer while the officer was performing his duties. During the incident, the MP deliberately inflicted bodily harm on the officer and attempted to seize the officer’s weapon. The actions of the suspect are classified as follows:

• Under Part 1 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional infliction of minor bodily harm by a group of persons on a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of their duties;
• Under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted theft of a firearm by a group of persons.

Additionally, on another occasion, the suspect while in Kyiv, during an argument with a soldier, struck the soldier multiple times, including in the head. According to an expert’s conclusion, the MP’s illegal actions caused the victim moderate bodily harm.

Dmytruk has been charged under two articles:

• Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm;
• Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – gross violation of public order motivated by blatant disregard for society, accompanied by particular audacity.

Furthermore, the Office of the Prosecutor General indirectly confirmed to Suspilne that Dmytruk has left Ukraine. The department reported that criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the illegal crossing of the state border by the MP.

The MP commented on the Prosecutor General’s Office’s statement regarding the charges on his Telegram channel. He claimed that “no charges have been officially presented to me.” However, he did confirm the existence of a criminal case.

“All these cases are entirely fabricated and made-up stories,” the MP stated.

It should be noted that Dmytruk has been reporting on his Telegram channel since yesterday that the security services are searching for him throughout Ukraine to detain him, but they have been unable to find him.

Some media outlets report that Dmytruk has already left Ukraine, crossing the border into Moldova, and flew from Chisinau to Rome on Saturday. The MP has not confirmed this.

Dmytruk is known for his support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He associates the criminal case against him with this stance.
