26.08.2024 14:39Another criminal case has been opened against Member of Parliament Artem Dmytruk—this time for illegal border crossing.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation is being conducted in Odesa.
“Searches have already been carried out among civilians and employees of the State Border Service who allegedly assisted the MP in illegally crossing the border,” the State Bureau of Investigation’s statement reads.
The case has been opened under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As a reminder, yesterday Dmytruk was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and a soldier. According to the investigation, the suspect, along with a group of individuals, attacked a law enforcement officer in Odesa, inflicted bodily harm, and attempted to seize the officer’s weapon.
It later became known that the MP had left the country before the charges were announced. He reported an attempted kidnapping of his family while abroad. Dmytruk contacted the local police, who recorded the license plate numbers of the vehicles involved in the attempted kidnapping. The MP also claimed that he was being followed and that he knows who was behind it and why. He promised to reveal more details later.
He also stated that in Ukraine, he was being sought by special services with the aim of eliminating him, that he was under surveillance, and that an assassination attempt on him and his family was being prepared. The MP believes that the persecution is related to his support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
