27.08.2024 - 08:18Sniper training instructor Pavlo Kashchuk criticized the work of mobile combat groups, using as an example a video released earlier today that was initially circulated as showing a cruise missile being shot down by a machine gun (it was later revealed that the missile was actually downed by an air defense system).
He also claimed that enlisting in these groups is part of a corrupt scheme that allows individuals to avoid being sent to the front lines.
“In the video, you can see the very poor performance of one of these groups against the backdrop of a cruise missile being shot down by an air defense missile. It looks like the guy, Sanyok, was shooting that Browning for the first time, and someone’s brother-in-law slapped some scope on it. The mount was clearly welded by volunteers and not tailored for Sanyok. But even if it were, without any kind of brace or stock, it wouldn’t be effective anyway. Yet, the show of active engagement continues, the public cheers at such videos, and somewhere, someone is being awarded distinctions for the reports,” Kashchuk commented on the video.
In his view, it’s time to make a “difficult but responsible decision” regarding these mobile groups: “At the very least, these thousands of pickups should be handed out to the front lines, then the machine guns, then return the bribes to those hiding from the war there, and reinforce other units.”

“Or at least recruit people not based on who can pay more to ‘fight’ near home somewhere in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, but, for example, from among the MKPS members and ‘civilian instructors’ who can mercilessly hit 100 clay targets per second,” Kashchuk added.
He was supported by Member of Parliament Maryana Bezuhla.
“I’ve long been writing about this corruption scheme, which is being covered up by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” she commented on Kashchuk’s post.
As a reminder, during today’s massive Russian missile attack, cruise missiles reached Zakarpattia. The Regional Military Administration published a video showing a machine gun firing at a missile on the border of Zakarpattia and Lviv regions. The video seemed to show the missile being hit.
However, later, former Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat clarified that the missile was not shot down by a machine gun, as many Ukrainian social media channels claimed, but by an air defense system. He pointed out that the soldier in the video mentions this at the end of the footage.
