Last night in Lutsk, an unidentified individual fired shots from a firearm at employees of the regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, who were on guard duty.

According to the police, shots were fired “at the military personnel who were on duty at the facility.”

The soldiers returned fire. One of them was wounded. Local social media channels reported that the shots were aimed at the military commissars.

After the shootout, the unknown attacker fled, and a search for him is ongoing.

Shortly after, the press service of the Volyn TRSSC responded to the incident near its building.

“At night, during curfew, there was an armed attack on the guard post of the Lutsk OMTRSSC and SP! On the night of August 27, an unknown individual opened fire at the guard post of the Lutsk OMTRSSC. As a result of the attack, Senior Soldier M. was wounded and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The soldiers of the guard company, who were on duty at the time, acted decisively according to the circumstances and returned fire. The perpetrator managed to flee the scene. Law enforcement is currently searching for him,” the TRSSC stated.

“The TRSSC is a restricted facility. In case of a threat to the lives of military personnel, they will open fire to kill… All those who attempt to shoot at military personnel will be punished in accordance with the law. Law enforcement agencies are already searching for the shooters from last night. And rest assured, they will be found. All personnel of the TRSSC have been informed that in case of a threat to life, they should open fire to kill,” the department added.
