04.09.2024 - 16:45In Cherkasy, a university lecturer was dismissed because her daughter supported the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
This was reported by Artyom Dmytruk, a Ukrainian MP who has fled the country, on his Telegram channel.
According to Dmytruk, the daughter was also expelled from the university, and the rector demanded that the Security Service of Ukraine investigate the family for possible state treason.
Dmytruk claims that this is far from an isolated case, stating that “people across the country are suffering” for their faith, and any support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is “punished.” The MP also provided another example where a woman was allegedly threatened with losing her parental rights because she prayed in Ukrainian Orthodox Church temples.
Dmytruk published a statement from the press service of Cherkasy National University, confirming the dismissal of a lecturer named Svitlana Halchenko and the expulsion of a student, Yelyzaveta Dibrova. However, the statement does not specify the reasons for these decisions, only mentioning the student’s “statements.”
It is worth noting that Dmytruk himself has been placed on an international wanted list and was arrested in absentia. The MP has claimed that the security services wanted to eliminate him.
