13.09.2024 05:03The United States is not yet ready to announce the removal of restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range American weapons to strike deep into Russian territory and will not speculate on the matter.
This was stated by U.S. State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel.
“I have no policy announcements, and I certainly won’t speculate,” the State Department representative said.
According to him, the American administration’s position on this issue has not changed at this time.
Earlier, The Times, citing sources, reported that the United States might allow Ukraine to use British and French missiles against Russian territory but not its own long-range weapons, such as ATACMS missiles.
Prior to this, Secretary of State Antony Blinken had mentioned that U.S. President Joe Biden does not rule out lifting the ban on using long-range weapons against Russia.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on U.S. statements about potentially allowing Ukraine to strike Russia with Western long-range missiles. He stated that the Kremlin would view this as direct Western involvement in the war against Russia.
