15.11.2024 - 18:39Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet decided whether to sign the bill on tax increases.
This was reported by BBC Ukraine, citing a source in the President’s Office.
The deadlines for either signing or vetoing the document have already passed. Initially, it was intended for the law to take effect retroactively from October 1.
The initiative has faced criticism from businesses, citizens, and some members of parliament. Concerns have been raised about whether all the funds from the military levy would be directed specifically to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Some experts believe that Zelensky is counting on obtaining funds for these purposes from the European Union by using frozen Russian assets.
On October 10, the Verkhovna Rada passed the tax increase bill in a reduced form, having removed half of its content. On October 15, the speaker forwarded it to the president for his signature.
