This was stated by Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko in an interview with the media.
“Territorial recruitment centers have full authority to check citizens’ documents themselves. They (recruitment offices) request — these are official requests to the National Police — for us to accompany employees of the territorial recruitment centers,” the minister said.
Klymenko claimed that violations during mobilization are reportedly decreasing. He characterized controversial incidents as “isolated cases that everyone tries to sensationalize.”
However, Ukrainians share daily videos of forced mobilization across the country.
Previously, it was stated that recruiters could detain men by force only if police representatives were part of the group and if the individual was in violation of military registration requirements.
Recently, a representative of the ombudsman’s office announced the near-complete eradication of forced conscription practices in Ukraine. However, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets later denied his representative’s statement.
