MP reported a killing at an Odesa military recruitment center of a man who tried to protect his son from conscription officers

A shooting occurred at the Odesa Territorial Recruitment Center.

The incident was captured on video and published on the Telegram channel of MP Artem Dmytruk.

The footage shows a scuffle on a staircase involving people in military uniforms, accompanied by the cries of a frightened woman shouting, “Wait! Take your hands off him!” Two gunshots are then heard, followed by a piercing scream.

According to Dmytruk, the father was trying to defend his conscripted son from military officers, and an employee of the recruitment center shot him. The MP reported that the man died on the spot and speculated that the same fate may await the son.

Dmytruk also claimed that efforts are being made to remove the video from the internet and that complaints are being filed against those sharing it.

Previously, in Volyn, employees of another territorial recruitment center were reported to have beaten a man, later transporting him to their minivan using a hospital stretcher.

Ombudsman for Human Rights in Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, attempted to investigate the Volyn case. However, the Volyn Regional and Lutsk City Territorial Recruitment Centers did not allow the ombudsman’s representative to speak with the injured man.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is considering reforms to the system of territorial recruitment and social support centers.
