25.12.2024 - 13:34Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed Moscow’s willingness to hold negotiations on Ukraine but noted that no specific proposals for organizing such talks have been received so far.
He made this statement during the program 60 Minutes on the Russia-1 channel.
“Moscow is not avoiding negotiations on the Ukraine issue, but we need to see serious, concrete proposals,” the Russian foreign minister stated.
According to Lavrov, Russia aims to address broader European security issues in these negotiations, not just Ukraine.
“The resolution of the Ukrainian crisis is tied to addressing security concerns across Europe as a whole,” Lavrov said.
However, he added, “Moscow has no illusions that negotiations on Ukraine will necessarily begin with Trump’s arrival in office.”
In November, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that ending the war in Ukraine “overnight,” as Donald Trump has promised, is not possible. However, he expressed confidence that the U.S. President-elect might still adjust his stance on the war.
Recently, Vladimir Putin reiterated Russia’s willingness to compromise with the U.S., stating that Russia has “never lost the desire” to improve relations with Americans.
