10.01.2025 - 14:28No single weapons system will enable the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to decisively change the situation on the battlefield.
This information reported according to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. His remarks followed a meeting of the Western contact group coordinating arms deliveries to Kyiv.
Austin highlighted the broad array of systems supplied to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, including air defense systems, drones, and HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems.
“In fact, many of these less significant systems have had a much greater impact on the battlefield than some of the more high-profile systems we’ve also provided,” he noted.
He specifically mentioned Abrams tanks, F-16 fighter jets, and ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. Austin emphasized that in a war of this nature, no single weapons system can fundamentally change the outcome.
Recently, the Pentagon announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine, which will include ammunition and equipment for American F-16 fighter jets.
Before this, U.S. President Joe Biden unveiled nearly $2.5 billion in additional military assistance to Kyiv. Biden also noted that the Pentagon is “in the process of transferring” hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and missiles to Ukraine.
