The Polish Ministry of Defense rejected the possibility of sending its peacekeepers to Ukraine
13.01.2025 - 05:35Slovakia will apply pressure on Ukraine to restore the transit of Russian gas.
This information reported according to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a broadcast on the TAZ television channel.
Fico pointed out that Ukraine is losing €800 million in transit fees due to the halted flow.
“Starting Monday, a special group including Minister Saková (Slovak Minister of Economy Denisa Saková) will continue to pressure the Ukrainian side to resume gas flow from east to west. Ukraine itself is losing €800 million in transit fees,” the Prime Minister stated.
He also emphasized that the stoppage of gas transit through Ukraine could negatively impact the European Union’s competitiveness compared to the United States and China.
“If we do not work on importing a certain volume of gas from the east via Ukraine, we will witness gas shortages in Europe and a significant rise in gas prices,” Fico warned.
Meanwhile, Slovak Parliament Vice Speaker Andrej Danko arrived in Moscow and revealed that Poland had blocked the delegation from flying through its airspace en route to Russia. As a result, the delegation had to reroute through the Czech Republic and Germany.
For his part, Zelensky confirmed that he had offered Fico financial compensation for the cessation of Russian gas transit.
