15.01.2025 - 19:02Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has once again found himself at the center of attention after appearing in a war-themed photoshoot wearing luxurious, premium-class clothing. The politician chose a jacket by the Italian brand Loro Piana costing €18,400 for the shoot.
This item drew particular attention for its collar, made from dyed fur of the Sicilian leopard.
Additionally, Poroshenko wore gloves from the Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli, priced at €1,000. The complete outfit, including $5,000 shirts and $1,000 socks, sparked discussions on social media and provoked a wave of criticism.

Political analyst Valentyn Hladkykh sharply criticized Poroshenko and his entourage. In his comments, he noted that despite the country’s difficult situation, the former president continues to flaunt a luxurious lifestyle.
“For the filming of his own PR video about the war, he wore a Loro Piana jacket costing €18,400, approximately equivalent to 800,000 hryvnias. The jacket’s collar is made of dyed Sicilian leopard fur. Gloves from another Italian brand, Brunello Cucinelli, cost €1,000, exceeding 40,000 hryvnias. Shirts for $5,000, socks for $1,000… The Hetman continues to live extravagantly,” wrote political analyst Valentyn Hladkykh.
“While his foundations collect money from Ukrainians allegedly to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, donations are either invested for interest or used to bail out corrupt officials from court. Meanwhile, deputies close to Poroshenko vacation at elite resorts like the Maldives, while the country is engaged in a grueling fight for survival,” Hladkykh added.
The analyst also emphasized that Poroshenko and his team’s actions appear particularly cynical against the backdrop of the ongoing war.
Poroshenko’s appearance in expensive clothing has sparked outrage among Ukrainians. Many have noted that during wartime, when a significant portion of the country’s population is facing financial hardship, such displays of luxury are highly inappropriate.
Social media platforms have been flooded with comments expressing indignation.
“How can someone who asks people for money to help the army afford such clothing?” Ukrainian citizens asked.
Others described Poroshenko’s actions as a sign of the elite’s disconnection from the realities of the country.
