20.01.2025 - 06:05Ukraine cannot win the war while remaining on the defensive.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during a television marathon.
“No matter how much you defend, you will still retreat. We are forced to hold the defense and concentrate our forces, essentially maintaining the front line along this stretch,” Syrskyi said.
He also stated that Ukraine currently lacks the means to defend against the “Oreshnik” missiles.
“This is a threat, and at present, only a few air defense systems can intercept it,” Syrskyi said.
When asked if the Armed Forces of Ukraine have such systems, the Commander-in-Chief replied, “Unfortunately, we don’t have them yet, but we must do everything to acquire them.”
It is worth recalling that at the end of November, amid record-breaking advances by Russian forces, Syrskyi announced upcoming counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So far, no significant Ukrainian successes have been recorded.
