This was reported by The Times, citing representatives of the British armed forces.
A high-ranking official from the British military expressed concerns to The Times that halting hostilities would allow the Kremlin to collude with a “new axis of aggressors” and rebuild its armed forces.
The “axis of aggressors” is currently perceived by the military as nations cooperating with Russia—China, Iran, and North Korea. According to British officers, these countries have formed a loose alliance.

Trump plans to end the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia within 100 days of his inauguration. On January 22, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov announced that no meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump had yet been arranged, though Russia was preparing for one. On January 21, Trump stated that he was open to meeting Putin at any convenient time and did not rule out imposing new sanctions on Russia if Putin refused to negotiate a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
