28.01.2025 11:35The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has confirmed the suspension of a program for Ukrainian refugees.
This was reported by Voice of America.
Specifically, the suspension applies to the United for Ukraine program, which allowed Ukrainian citizens to enter the United States.
“In connection with the executive order issued on January 20, 2025, titled ‘Protecting Our Borders,’ USCIS is suspending the acceptance of Form I-134A, the online request to support and declaration of financial sponsorship,” the agency announced.
The submission of applications is paused until the agency processes all previously submitted requests, according to the statement.
Earlier, The New York Times also reported on the suspension of Ukrainian admissions to the U.S.
It is worth noting that before leaving office, former President Joe Biden extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program for refugees in the U.S. This extension allows refugees to remain in the United States with work permits and protection from deportation until 2026.
