Staff of the Territorial Recruitment Center in Odesa mobilized a half-blind man and sent him to the assault troops
29.01.2025 - 05:33Under the administration of the new U.S. President Donald Trump, Michael Duffey, a figure previously involved in freezing military aid to Ukraine, has been nominated to oversee weapons procurement at the Pentagon.
This information was reported by the Associated Press.
The agency writes that Trump has selected Duffey, who in 2019 ordered a freeze on military aid to Ukraine during the time Trump was pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to commit to investigating the Biden family. This incident was a key factor leading to Trump’s first impeachment.
In a letter obtained by *Associated Press*, Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, raised concerns about whether Duffey would act lawfully in his role as the Pentagon’s chief weapons procurement official.
The White House has not responded to Associated Press inquiries about whether Duffey’s nomination signals a shift in U.S. policy regarding military support for Ukraine.
It is also notable that Pete Hegseth, a former U.S. military officer and television host, was recently appointed as the new U.S. Secretary of Defense.
U.S. Vice President James David Vance stated that Hegseth’s appointment would bring “significant changes” to the Pentagon’s weapons procurement system.
