The head of Ukraine’s intelligence responded to a statement about the country’s fate with a vulgar joke

The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov (who has been listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), responded to his statement about the country’s future with a vulgar joke.

A video featuring the intelligence chief’s comment was published by Ukrainian Telegram channels.

“Two old ladies are sitting in the yard, and one says to the other: ‘Look, she walked by, and her daughter is a hussy.’ The other replies: ‘But she has a son.’ ‘Well, let her go around telling everyone that’s not true,'” Budanov joked.

On January 27, Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in parliamentary circles, reported on a closed session of the Verkhovna Rada dedicated to the real state of the Ukrainian army on the front lines. According to the press, during the session, Budanov stated that Ukraine’s existence could be at risk if Kyiv and Moscow do not start negotiations by the summer of 2025.

Later, the HUR denied the accuracy of how Budanov’s words were conveyed. The agency emphasized that publishing information about official classified meetings harms Ukraine’s security.
