The Washington Post reported that the new U.S. president has halted military aid to Ukraine
29.01.2025 - 18:31The property of Oleksiy Poroshenko, the 39-year-old eldest son of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, has been seized due to his failure to pay a fine of 56,000 hryvnias imposed for evading military service.
This is evidenced by a court ruling published by the media.
Information surfaced online suggesting that the son of the European Solidarity leader had left the country and ignored summons from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) for an extended period. As a result, he was issued an initial fine, which he did not pay. Later, Oleksiy received a second fine but again failed to respond. Taking into account enforcement fees and other costs, the total amount of penalties reached slightly over 56,396 hryvnias.
Due to non-payment, the Pechersk District Department of the State Enforcement Service issued a ruling to seize Poroshenko Jr.’s assets.
It is worth noting that a significant portion of the former president’s assets are registered in Oleksiy Poroshenko’s name. According to the ruling, all of these will now be subject to seizure.
If the former president’s son does pay the fine, Poroshenko’s opponents will likely interpret it as an admission of draft evasion during wartime.
Earlier, media reports indicated that Oleksiy Poroshenko had been placed on a wanted list due to his failure to appear in response to a military summons at the recruitment center. The former MP holds the rank of reserve lieutenant, but according to press reports, he currently resides mostly abroad.
Journalists previously reported that he was required to pay a fine for failing to appear at the military recruitment center.
