“A new round of U.S.-Russia negotiations will take place this week,” – Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said
24.02.2025 10:54Yesterday’s statements by President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference in Kyiv sparked a mixed reaction on Ukrainian social media.
Below are sharply contrasting comments posted on Facebook.
Journalist Oleksiy Stepura speculated on a possible reaction from U.S. President Donald Trump to Zelensky’s statement about his willingness to step down for the sake of peace in Ukraine.
“Trump will now write: ‘Resign, you idiot, and there will be peace immediately. You yourself suggested it, just like your rare earth metals! Nobody forced you to say that,'” Stepura wrote.
At the same time, entrepreneur Oleksiy Davidenko believes that Zelensky was more convincing than usual at the press conference.
“This was one of his best press conferences. No posturing, no rudeness, no arrogance, no script. Frank, honest, with numbers, nuances, and details of the negotiation process,” Davidenko wrote.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Trump supporter, called on Zelensky to resign following his press conference.
“Zelensky said he would resign for the sake of peace and NATO membership. The little dictator should step down and allow Ukraine to hold free and fair elections. We are no longer paying for their war,” she wrote.
