25.02.2025 13:33Donald Trump refused to call Vladimir Putin a “dictator,” unlike his previous remarks about Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I don’t use these words lightly,” the U.S. president responded to journalists’ questions before his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Last week, Trump referred to Zelensky as a “dictator without elections.”
He also addressed rumors about a possible visit to Moscow on May 9.
“I will go to Moscow if everything is settled. May 9 is too soon,” Trump stated.
At the same time, he mentioned that he is working on several economic development agreements with Russia.
“Russia has what we need, such as rare earth metals,” Trump said.
Meanwhile, Macron stated that it is impossible to confiscate frozen Russian assets, as it would violate international law.
Earlier in the same press conference, Trump claimed that the war in Ukraine could end within a few weeks.
He also asserted that “Putin is not opposed to NATO peacekeepers being deployed in Ukraine”.
