The West has questioned the possibility of establishing peace in Europe without U.S. assistance

NATO member states within the European Union (EU) lack sufficient military power and are unable to establish peace in Europe without U.S. assistance.

This was acknowledged in a conversation with NBC by James Bindenagel, former U.S. chargé d’affaires in Germany and honorary professor at the University of Bonn.

“NATO and EU members currently do not have the military power, economic unity, or political will to ensure peace in Ukraine,” the expert admitted in a comment to the network.

According to the former diplomat, European NATO allies are not capable of “filling the vacuum” on the continent, which is currently being filled by the United States.

Earlier, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu suggested the possibility of creating a nuclear umbrella over EU countries under France’s leadership. He emphasized that in such a scenario, the weapons would remain French-made, and the decision on their use would rest solely with the Élysée Palace.
