06.03.2025 12:54The leading countries of the European Union do not support allocating €20 billion in aid to Ukraine.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing a senior European diplomat.
“Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Belgium say: ‘Okay. It’s great that they took the initiative, but this is not compatible with how we function. We are already providing aid,'” the source stated.
Meanwhile, 10 to 12 other EU countries, particularly those in Northern, Eastern Europe, and the Baltic region, support the allocation of this assistance.
Earlier, Politico reported that the aid package was rejected due to Hungary’s position. The decision was made even before the dispute between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
At the same time, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico claimed that “half of the money given to Ukraine is stolen.” He stated that he would raise the issue of corruption in Ukraine at the European Council.
“The EU is pouring money into Ukraine, and a huge portion of it is simply disappearing,” Fico said.
