18.03.2025 12:06Russian President Vladimir Putin is demanding that all arms deliveries to Ukraine be suspended during the one-month ceasefire proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources in Europe and Moscow.
According to the report, Putin’s minimum goal is to halt at least U.S. military assistance to Ukraine.
A senior European official stated that European countries are “extremely reluctant” to agree to Russia’s demand, as it risks creating a situation where Russia could rearm during the pause in hostilities, while Ukraine would not have the same opportunity.
At the same time, Putin insists that the suspension of arms supplies would be temporary and says he is not opposed to their resumption after a peace agreement is reached—provided that Ukraine agrees to limit its military capabilities as part of the deal.
Publicly, Putin has also voiced another key demand: the suspension of Ukraine’s military mobilization.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that today’s conversation between Putin and Trump is expected to take place between 3:00 and 5:00 PM Kyiv time.
According to Peskov, the two leaders will discuss not only Ukraine but also the “normalization of relations between Russia and the U.S.”
