18.03.2025 12:15The peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump amounts to Ukraine’s capitulation, according to retired General Ben Hodges, former commander of U.S. Army forces in Europe.
His statement was reported by The Guardian.
“This is anything but a peace plan. It is capitulation. It is U.S. pressure on Ukraine to surrender to Russia,” Hodges said.
The retired general believes that the U.S. leadership expects Kyiv to “give up something, particularly territory.” He also expressed confusion over why Washington sees such a scenario as beneficial to U.S. strategic interests.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that the normalization of relations between Russia and the United States would improve the situation in Central Europe.
