The U.S. is shutting down organizations that were combating Russian disinformation, according to media reports
19.03.2025 11:00U.S. President Donald Trump described his conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin as “excellent.”
The American politician made this statement in an interview with Fox News.
“We talked about many things, including achieving peace in Ukraine,” the White House chief stated.
When asked whether Putin had demanded an end to military aid to Ukraine as part of an agreement, Trump denied it: “No, he didn’t say that. We didn’t discuss aid at all. We talked about many things, but aid was not one of them.” (However, the Kremlin’s official statement on the conversation with Trump included a condition regarding stopping aid—Ed.)
Trump also expressed his desire to trade with Russia.
“They want it, and so do we. They have something very valuable for us, including vast reserves of rare earth metals,” he said.
“You know, they have a huge piece of real estate—the largest, actually, the biggest in the world by far. And on that land, they have resources that we could use, honestly, and that others could use as well,” he added.
Trump further stated that the current relations between Moscow and Beijing are a “marriage of convenience,” driven by Western sanctions.
“Obama basically forced them together with his bad energy and other policies. It’s a marriage of convenience that wouldn’t have happened under normal circumstances,” Trump said.
At the same time, Trump added that both the U.S. and Russia want to “get along” with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“Right now, they are probably friends, but we will be friends with both,” he concluded.
