21.03.2025 06:07During talks in Saudi Arabia, Washington intends to hold “indirect negotiations” between representatives of Kyiv and Moscow to gain an understanding of each side’s demands in the conflict.
This was reported by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, in an interview with American journalist Glenn Beck.
According to Kellogg, at the planned talks in Riyadh, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations will be placed in separate rooms.
“We are organizing what we call technical groups for so-called indirect negotiations in Saudi Arabia. Both sides arrive, they are placed in separate rooms, and you essentially ask: ‘Okay, what are your terms?’ Then you turn to the other side: ‘What are your terms?'” Kellogg explained.
Trump’s representative noted that this shuttle diplomacy, which Washington plans to conduct in the Saudi capital, aims to achieve a full ceasefire in Ukraine. According to Kellogg, this would be the first step toward a final settlement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The special envoy also stated that the U.S. delegation will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Director of Policy Planning Michael Anton.
It is worth noting that Trump appointed Kellogg as a special envoy for Ukraine to maintain contacts with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
