21.03.2025 05:34Ukraine’s Defense Procurement Agency is planning to once again purchase hundreds of thousands of mines from a state-owned manufacturer that failed to meet its delivery targets last year. The mines it did supply were defective and exploded within Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) positions, leading to a major scandal.
This was reported on Facebook by journalist Yulia Kiriyenko-Merinova.
According to the publication, out of 500,000 120-mm caliber mines that were supposed to be delivered to the UAF by the end of the year, the state factory supplied only 170,000. Despite this, the factory’s contract was extended for 2025 to “help the factory avoid penalties for non-fulfillment.”

“And now, the Defense Procurement Agency is once again planning to order several hundred thousand more mines from the same manufacturer. You think that sounds absurd? You would be right,” Kiriyenko-Merinova wrote.
It is worth recalling that in November, a scandal erupted when the UAF received defective mines of various calibers. The issue involved the delivery of hundreds of thousands of shells, which ultimately had to be withdrawn from the front lines.
