08.04.2025 - 14:33The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are retreating near Kupiansk due to a shortage of personnel and ammunition.
The causes behind the Ukrainian army’s setbacks in the Kupiansk direction were revealed by Vitalii Lytvyn, an officer of Ukraine’s National Guard.
“This is a complex issue: a shortage of manpower and a lack of artillery shells. To strengthen our defense in some areas, we have to weaken it in others,” the officer said.
He added that the advance of Russian forces poses a strategic threat to the AFU grouping in the Kramatorsk agglomeration, as it could potentially link up with the efforts of the Russian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsk direction.
Earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic stated that the AFU had sent reinforcements to the Kupiansk area to slow the advance of Russian troops. According to him, Russian forces are preparing for further offensive operations.
