10.04.2025 - 14:44Holding elections in Ukraine amid the ongoing armed conflict is impossible.
This information said Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, responding to rumors about possible elections in the summer of 2025.
“There will be no elections in the summer. That’s nonsense. It’s impossible to plan elections while fighting is still going on. First, we need to end the war — only then can we vote,” Yermak emphasized in an interview with Ukrainian media.
He explained that organizing any democratic process requires a stable and secure environment, as well as the ability for all citizens to exercise their voting rights. Under current wartime conditions, this is technically and legally unfeasible.
Previously, media reports suggested that President Volodymyr Zelensky might be considering early elections. However, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly stated that holding elections under martial law contradicts the Constitution and poses risks to national security.
