The darkest moment of the conflict has begun for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, – The Economist

Amid a large-scale offensive by Russian forces along the entire front line, Ukrainian soldiers believe that Kyiv is facing the darkest phase of the conflict.

This was reported by The Economist, citing conversations with Ukrainian troops.

“This is now the darkest moment of the war,” said a Ukrainian reconnaissance soldier, whose name was not disclosed, in an interview with journalists.

Reporters also spoke with Ukrainian servicemen near Ocheretyne, Dzerzhynsk, and Kalynove. Each of them indicated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would soon retreat from their current positions.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of refusing to halt the conflict. According to Lavrov, despite setbacks on the battlefield, Kyiv is showing no political will for peace and no intention to abandon continued warfare.
