29.04.2025 - 17:51Russian forces are making advances in Ukraine’s Sumy region.
According to the military Telegram channel Deep State, the entire village of Basivka has been marked as a “gray zone” on their map, indicating Russian attempts to establish control there.
Many Ukrainian soldiers have reported that Basivka is already effectively captured by Russian forces. Specifically, a Ukrainian serviceman with the call sign “Muchnoy” reported that Russian troops are already attempting to move from Basivka toward Loknya and are achieving tactical successes. In his assessment, Russia’s priority objective in this sector is to reach Yunakivka. He also noted that Russian forces are trying to enter Vodolahy, located northwest near the border.
Meanwhile, Oleg Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, stated that fighting is ongoing in Basivka and Novenke, but that Russian forces do not control these areas. He acknowledged that Russians are trying to advance but said they have not achieved “significant success,” while at the same time destroying civilian infrastructure.
Villages such as Zhuravka and Veselivka have also entered the gray zone.
For context, Russian forces have also recently approached the border of Dnipropetrovsk region, prompting evacuations in some settlements.
