Scandal in Odesa: a mobilized man reported torture and threats to his life at the military enlistment office

In Odesa, a man who was forcibly taken to a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC) recorded a video statement declaring his intention to take his own life.

He said that the actions of military recruitment officials pushed him to this extreme step.

“I state responsibly: in the event of my death, I ask that the employees of the Chornomorsk and Khadzhibey district Territorial Recruitment Centers of Chornomorsk and Odesa be held accountable,” the man said in the published video.

According to him, TRC staff illegally detained him on the street and forcibly brought him to the center, where, he claims, he is being treated “worse than an animal.”

The man emphasized that he had been deprived of humane treatment and dignity. He described experiencing intense psychological pressure and a profound loss of hope, which ultimately led to his drastic decision.

The incident has caused public outcry in Odesa. Social media users are demanding that authorities investigate the actions of the TRC staff and ensure that human rights are respected during mobilization efforts.

As of now, there have been no official comments from the leadership of the Chornomorsk and Khadzhibey district TRCs. Human rights advocates have already expressed their willingness to provide the man with legal assistance and have called for an immediate investigation.
