“The mineral resources deal between the U.S. and Ukraine is lifelong and provides no security guarantees”, — MP said
02.05.2025 15:40In the center of the town of Tatarbunary, Odesa region, a police officer hit a child on a pedestrian crossing while allegedly distracted by her phone.
This was reported by the mother of the injured girl on social media.
According to her, after the incident, police officer Alisa Markovych neither called an ambulance nor the police and instead moved to the passenger seat. The girl was accompanied by her father. It is claimed that the officer’s car only stopped after the father began shouting.
The police department reported that the officer has been suspended from duty during an internal investigation. Several administrative cases have been opened, including for driving without an insurance policy.
“It has been established that the police officer struck a 7-year-old local girl as she was crossing the road at a pedestrian crosswalk,” the statement said.
The girl was examined by doctors, found to have minor abrasions, and was released home. A sobriety test confirmed that the officer was not under the influence of alcohol.
The day after the incident, the girl’s father went to the district police station to obtain information about the accident. He was reportedly taken from the station and handed over to the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) for mobilization.
“I found out he was removed from the station and handed over to the TRC representatives for mobilization,” the mother wrote.
She added that on May 1, her husband suffered a hypertensive crisis.
“Around 1 a.m., an ambulance brought him to the hospital. Medical procedures were performed overnight to stabilize his condition. But in the morning, TRC staff and a police squad came to his hospital room to forcibly take him back to the TRC,” she said.
Previously, an entrepreneur from Dnipro reported that the National Police refers men to the TRC when they come in to file complaints about certain offenses.
