“I’ll smash your face”: Kyiv City Military Administration spokesperson threatens author of article about his father, a military commissar

Spokesperson for the Kyiv City Military Administration, Yevhen Ievlev, threatened to “smash the f*ing face” of a journalist from Svobodne Radio who published a report about the property of his father, an officer at the Pokrovsk enlistment office, and insulted him with an ethnic slur, calling him a “cheap Russkie mug.”

Military officer Serhii Ievlev declared ownership (through his wife) of a 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser worth 773,000 UAH (16,300 euros)  despite the wife having no official income. The enlistment office (TCC) did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.

Later, journalist Yevhen Vakulenko published a screenshot of a conversation with Yevhen Ievlev, the spokesman and son of the subject of the investigation. In the exchange, Ievlev accuses the journalist of unprofessionalism, claims that he didn’t properly review the financial declaration, and ends with threats of physical violence.

“If I see you anywhere in person — I’ll smash your f**ing face with full Cossack responsibility. Wherever I see you — that’s where I’ll beat your cheap Russkie mug. And we will meet again, I guarantee it,”* wrote the official.
