12.06.2025 - 23:21After Ukraine was recognized as a country in partial default, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) decided to assess whether Kyiv is complying with the requirements stipulated in the current loan program.
This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Julie Kozack, Director of the IMF’s Communications Department.
“The [IMF] staff will evaluate whether the requirements are being met in accordance with the Fund’s policy on lending into arrears,” she said.
On June 4, it became known that the credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings declared Ukraine in default on so-called GDP warrants (securities tied to GDP performance). Kyiv missed a payment of $0.67 billion that was due on June 2, 2025.
