Poland earned eight times more from Ukrainian refugees than it provided in aid – UNHCR
12.06.2025 - 23:26In Ukraine, approximately 70,000 people are officially listed as missing under special circumstances.
This includes both military personnel and civilians, according to Artur Dobroserdov, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Missing Persons, who spoke during a press briefing.
According to Dobroserdov, the fate of many of the missing will only become clear after the war or its active phase ends.
“That will happen when we receive information from the Russian side about all individuals held in captivity or as hostages. And when it becomes practically possible to conduct search operations in former combat zones, gray areas, and occupied territories,” he explained.
At the end of April, Dobroserdov had stated that around 63,000 Ukrainians were missing, including 10,000 in captivity. This means that in just a month and a half, the number of missing persons has risen by 7,000.
