The NATO summit failed to change the severity of Ukraine’s situation, – The Telegraph
26.06.2025 - 08:42Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán believes that the “supporters of common sense” — those opposing Ukraine’s accession to NATO — scored a victory at the Alliance summit in The Hague.
The Hungarian leader made this statement on his Facebook page following the summit.
“The first battle was a success. Onward to Brussels!” Orbán wrote.
He added that the “supporters of common sense” still face a long fight, referring to the upcoming European Union summit.
“A tougher battle awaits us in Brussels. Fortunately, by morning I’ll have the opinion of the Hungarian people in my hands,” he posted later, clearly referring to the results of a nationwide survey on Hungarian attitudes toward Ukraine’s EU membership, which concluded the day before.
As a reminder, in NATO’s final declaration, Ukraine was mentioned only once — and only in the context of receiving assistance.
Earlier, an ally of Orbán published a video opposing Ukraine’s accession to the EU, featuring a man tied up in the trunk of a car in the background.
