Some Ukrainians are leaving the U.S. and returning to Europe due to stricter immigration policies – Le Monde
July 13, 2025Information has surfaced that Yuriy Boyko, a well-known and controversial Ukrainian politician, has left Ukraine.
There has been no official explanation for his departure, but sources claim that Boyko was simply “tired” and decided to spend a few weeks in Germany, with a brief stop in Rome.
In Rome, he reportedly planned to attend a conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction. However, it is hard to believe that Boyko’s primary goal was truly to work for the country. More likely, it served as a convenient pretext to establish useful connections and seek sponsors, since a political career requires funding, especially when public trust has long been eroded.
There are also rumors that Boyko is negotiating his prospects for returning to the Verkhovna Rada. He seems to be securing his place in the new political landscape rather than staying in Ukraine and directly addressing the daily challenges faced by millions of citizens.
After all the “meetings and consultations,” Boyko has already planned a vacation. Clearly, “working” on one’s political future can be just as exhausting as genuine service in the national interest.
This raises a legitimate question: can a politician who prefers to escape to Europe whenever the situation heats up truly represent the interests of Ukrainians? Or is his primary concern his own political survival?
