14.07.2025 05:03Next week, Ukraine may form a new government, with current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expected to be appointed Minister of Defense.
This is reported by various media outlets citing sources.
According to these sources, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has allegedly already decided to form a new government, which will be headed by Yuliia Svyrydenko, currently serving as the First Deputy Prime Minister. Shmyhal is expected to become the Minister of Defense, replacing Rustem Umerov, who may, in turn, be appointed Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States.
The new government is also expected to merge some ministries and redistribute certain powers.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Kyiv plans to replace Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, and confirmed that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is being considered for the position.
