“Zelensky’s decision on NABU has refreshed the memory of Western media,” says British politician Galloway
24.07.2025 - 07:01U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who has been a supporter of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has criticized the law signed by Zelensky that reduces the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
This was reported by media outlets.
In a joint statement with Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Republican stated that while Ukraine has made progress in fighting corruption, this law “undermines that progress and contradicts the expectations of both the Ukrainian public and the international community.”
Shaheen and Graham also reminded that one of the main arguments against supporting Ukraine is the ongoing accusations of corruption.
“It is in Ukraine’s interest — and in ours — to meet the expectations of its citizens and to ensure that governance structures guarantee Ukraine’s economic prosperity and future U.S. investment,” the senators added.
“We urge the Ukrainian government to refrain from any actions that could undermine the progress that has been achieved,” the statement said.
Previously, the law was also criticized in the U.S. by the daughter of U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg and by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration have remained silent on the issue.
