The Kremlin did not see any common ground with Kyiv’s position
July 25, 2025Florian Philippot, leader of the French party The Patriots, has criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for suggesting that the European Union (EU) should cover the salaries of Ukrainian soldiers.
He made the statement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“Can’t he pay them with what he’s already taken from us?! Not a single cent, not a single weapon for Ukraine! Peace, peace, peace!” the French politician wrote.
Philippot also stressed that Europe must stop supporting Zelensky and return to seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Earlier, Zelensky had appealed to Western countries for funds to pay military salaries, referring to Ukraine’s soldiers as a form of defense tool.
“Previously, Europeans refused to provide money for the salaries of our military, only for weapons. But the reality is that our soldiers are the weapon — the one protecting everyone,” the Ukrainian president said.
